Meet our Board of Directors! This team came together through shared lived experiences that shaped our commitment to being the change we want to see.
Our Team
Rachel Slathar - President
Rachel Slathar was born and raised in Minnesota but moved to Oklahoma at 18 to further her riding career and connections in the equine world. After surviving two domestic violence relationships, she vowed to never let what she went through be in vain, and instead to use her experiences and voice to help other victims and survivors in the equine world. She is the owner of DiYDCo, a fierce ally to every victim and invites you to join the discussion - this fight takes you getting involved.
Adam Mullen - Vice President
Adam was born and raised in New Hampshire, where he currently resides. Adam got his start in the equine industry riding hunter/jumper, took a break for a few years, and then came back and found he enjoyed the western side more. Adam is legally blind and works in the defense contracting industry. His lived experiences has made him extremely passionate about helping survivors of family and relationship trauma and being a safe ally and voice for those who may be experiencing some of the most difficult situations of their lives. He is deeply honored to serve as the VP of Ride At Dawn and is looking forward to assisting with your journey in any way that he can.
Morgan Kay - Board Treasurer
Morgan Kay is a life-time Minnesotan who grew up deeply engrained in agriculture and the equine industry. She currently works in finance and western event production/digital equine marketing. Her discipline of choice is cattle sorting and competing in ranch horse/versatility events.
She spent much of her childhood in unsafe environments and greatly attributes distancing herself from violence and abusers to the support of the horse community. This is where her calling to advocate for other survivors and victims stems from.; She is ready to be loud and proud in every victim’s corner.
Maddy Gilomen - Board Secretary
Maddy Gilomen was born and raised in Minnesota and was brought up in the barrel racing world before moving to Wisconsin to obtain her Bachelors in Psychology. From there, Maddy has worked in various roles in the mental health field and currently works as a supervisor in intensive residential treatment services. Her passion for mental health started through her own lived experiences as a child which helped her grow her into the kind of adult her younger self would have felt safe with. She is passionate about empowering others and is committed to unwavering advocacy..
Hannah Howell - Chair of Ethics, Compliance & Investigation
Hannah Howell was born and raised in Colorado and now calls Oklahoma home. She has a heart for helping people, especially children and families facing abuse and hardship. Having walked alongside victims through abuse and the tough legal process, Hannah knows firsthand how overwhelming it can be and how important it is to have someone fighting with you and for you. After being told she couldn’t have children of her own, she turned that heartbreak into purpose, pouring her energy back into giving back with hope, faith, and resilience. Grounded in her love for community and her passion for horses,,
- That even in the darkest seasons, a new dawn is always possible.
